H2A Architects provided space assessment, planning diagrams, and office design services for the renovation of the Genesee County Friend of the Court (FOC). The FOC is currently located in the County’s administration building, on two floors, and in several locations within the building. To become more efficient, the directors of the FOC decided to consolidate all staff and operations and move to the second floor of the McCree building in downtown Flint, which houses the County Health Department, and the 67th District Court.
The project not only included renovation of over 40,000 sf of office space for the FOC but also removal of the existing escalator, installation of a new public stair and elevator, and new security screening station at the building entry for the County Sheriff deputies.
Demolition of the existing spaces had to be closely monitored as the District Court maintained operations while the renovation took place.
